FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Do I Place an Order?

  • Click on the name of the map to go to the appropriate page. Then click “Add to Cart.” At this time you can either continue shopping or you can click “Checkout.” After you click the “Checkout” button, please fill out the “Cart contents” page and submit. We thank you for your order.

How do I know that my credit card information is secure?

  • We use Comodo to ensure that your personal information, such as credit card details, are encrypted when you interact with our site (read more). This site runs on Drupal 6.19, using ubercart 2.1, and using Authorize.net as our payment gateway. We do not store your credit card information on our servers longer than the fraction of a second required to securely pass this information to Authorize.net.

Are your maps printed on special paper?

  • Yes!  We print our wall maps on heavy poster paper. This gives you the best possible print quality. Laminated maps are heavy poster paper with a clear coating. We print our folded maps on special high-strength paper that will last many years under normal use.

Which type of paper do you recommend?

  • If you plan to frame your map, we recommend you choose a poster paper copy. If you don’t plan to frame your map, we recommend that you buy a laminated copy. Laminated maps are not affected by normal changes in humidity that can cause unframed poster paper copies to sag over time. If you don’t have wall space for a map, we recommend folded maps. We print our folded maps on special high-strength paper that will last many years under normal use.

Can a laminated map be framed?

  • Yes! This method of display helps to keep the weight and cost of framing down, yet it still encourages the viewer to run their fingers over the map. Our laminated wall maps are heat-sealed in 1.7 mil clear vinyl, an easy-care finish. You can also write on them with a dry erase marker. When a traditional framing with glass is appropriate, simply purchase the poster paper version.

Is the index to the Essential Geography map available as a booklet?

  • Yes! On the Essential Geography page, just click on "Complete index (40 pages)" button for a pdf file that you can print and keep near your wall map for easy reference. This booklet is free.
